ABOUT US
Our History
Now in its 5th generation, Browne’s Funeral Director started out with The O’Reilly family. Little is known about the initial start-up circa 1845 by the O’Reilly family until Johnny and Tommy O’Reilly. The brothers worked in Enniscorthy but served opposite sides of the town. Tommy O’Reilly married and had three children. When Johnny, his brother passed away Tommy managed all the funerals in the area with his daughter Annie, as both of her siblings sadly died at an early age. Lower Church Street in the centre of town was their base, but in 1920, after an horrific fire they nearly lost everything.
About Us
We are a family business, now carried into the fifth generation. We will have a short video of the premises coming soon, we have the largest viewing room/service room in Enniscorthy. We are currently installing live feed streaming of services at the funeral home, with a large digital screen for displaying photographs, and an internal and external sound system.
Our Funeral Home
At Browne’s Funeral Home, our tastefully designed rooms are available to those who would like to use them to host a wake, viewing or funeral service. Our Funeral Home was specially designed for a gathering of family and friends, giving people time to meet and greet in a relaxed atmosphere. The funeral home setting is suited to all denominations, and we welcome families to hold religious or non-religious services in the warm, welcoming and comfortable spaces.
